The RatKing Chull is a compact steel cycle truck.

I've been thinking about building a cycle truck for over a decade but never quite found the reason to make it happen. Now that I'm a father and looking for more ways to bring Frank along with me, the timing finally feels right. Gas prices being what they are certainly helped, too.

This bike was originally designed for apartment living in town with its small footprint and grocery hauling capabilities. Now its been adapted for strolls into town, past my neighbor's cows, for post office deliveries.

The 20" front wheel creates room for a low, frame-mounted cargo platform while a full-size 26" or 29" rear wheel keeps the bike rolling easy. The rear wheel size is either or; choose the 26" for a shorter wheelbase or the 29" for even better rollover. Or just go off vibes, the reverse penny farthing is a look.

The Chull uses a removable 20 × 16" frame-mounted platform. The primary 14 × 16" cargo area extends forward of the head tube, while another 6" wraps rearward around it. By building the frame and platform separately, the platform is able to sit below the head tube, keeping cargo exceptionally low and stable.

The geometry is designed specifically around a loaded front platform, with a short overall wheelbase and steering intended to remain controlled and intuitive under load. (Geometry optimized for 2.25" Tires)

The Chull is built for moderate loads (target load capacity of 75lbs). You could carry so many burritos on this thing.

The Chull's cargo platform is not designed or intended to carry passengers, including children. The target load capacity applies to cargo only.

Nitty Gritty

Details for Paint, chainring size, rotor size, etc will be handled one on one. Ill shoot you an email once the pre order window closes with a details page to outline the small decisions to get your build across the finish line.

Minor structural details, including platform reinforcements and frame connections, may be refined during production when there are opportunities to improve strength, durability, or ease of fabrication. Any adjustments will be made with the intention of improving the finished product without changing the frame and platform dimensions, function, or intended use.

Should any unforeseen changes become necessary that meaningfully affect the bike's geometry, compatibility, or intended function, I'll keep you informed and give you the option to have your deposit refunded.
